Bealeton is home to 7,000 residents and is known for its charming rural atmosphere. Home to numerous light rail systems and within distance from a few major airports, Bealeton's residents enjoy access to major metropolitan areas while living in a cozy community. Bealeton is home to state football powerhouse Liberty High School.

Marshall is a small historical village located in the northern part of the county. Fauquier County is home to a premiere public school district that consists of eleven elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools, and one alternative high school. Since the district is relatively small (11,000 students are served), students receive a great deal of one-on-one attention with the average ratio of students to teachers being 13:1.

There are also a number of excellent private schools located throughout Fauquier County. A few of these schools include Providence Christian Academy, Fresta Valley Christian School, Highland School, Wakefield School, and Saint James Episcopal School.

Fauquier County is home to Lord Fairfax Community College which offers more than seventy-five associate degree and certificate programs in a variety of fields. Over the years, Fauquier County has been the site of twelve different battles, including many battle campaigns during Gettysburg. There are a number of Civil War trails and self-guided tours one can take to experience these significant historical sites. A variety of fascinating museums that detail Fauquier County's history are popular among visitors and residents alike. A few of these museums include the Cold War Museum, the Liberty Heritage Society Museum, and the Fauquier History Museum at the Old Jail.
